Where and when is the ceremony?
The ceremony will be held on April 17th at 2:30 pm in the Memorial Union
Tripp Commons. Parking is available across the street in the Helen C. White Library Basement Ramp. Parking is also available in the Lake Street Ramp a few blocks away.

What should I wear?
Please dress up. A shirt and tie for men, dress or business wear for women.

What if I miss the scheduled induction?
You do not lose eligibility by missing an induction. You may be inducted at next springs' ceremony. This year's induction is located in the Great Hall of the Memorial Union.

How many guests can I bring?
Please be reasonable as we do have limited space. Try to bring no more than five guests.

Who will the guest speaker be?

What do I get for the national membership fee?
Your national membership fee pays for your academic key or tie-tack and your membership certificate. It also pays a portion of the expenses for a chapter delegate to attend the national convention. The national magazine, the FORUM of Phi Eta Sigma, and the study pamphlet, HINTS on learning and studying, are provided to chapters on a complimentary basis. A portion of the membership fee goes to the Founders Fund, which provides a dozen or more $2,000 national scholarships, and over forty $1,000 national awards to undergraduates.

What is the PES key?
A key is a pendant often worn on a chain or bracelet. It bears the colors and insignia of Phi Eta Sigma. For men the key is a pin that can be worn on a tie or shirt-breast.

I missed my induction. How do I get my certificate and pin?
You can pick up your certificate at the kick-off meeting or any
general meeting. We do not mail any certificates.

I was inducted but never received any more news about Phi Eta Sigma!
We send our members regular announcements of events and meetings over our mass email list. If you have not received any mailings please contact our tech advisor at
pes-tech@lists.services.wisc.edu and ask to be added to the list.

Why should I join Phi Eta Sigma?
Phi Eta Sigma is an outward recognition of personal accomplishment and serves as an incentive for continued high scholarship. It provides you the opportunity to meet freshman scholars from all academic disciplines at UW Madison and to join them in promoting academic excellence. Also, you may apply for scholarships provided by the national and local chapters.
Membership in Phi Eta Sigma identifies you to employers and professional and graduate schools as a person of superior academic ability and performance.
